AstraZeneca, one of the frontrunners in the global race for a Covid-19 vaccine, announced Wednesday that it was pausing its late-stage trial to review safety data. The company said the pause is a “routine action” and that it is trying to expedite the review to “minimize any potential impact on the trial timeline.”

- U.S. cases: More than 6.3 million
- U.S. deaths: At least 189,600
