Toronto-based Bragg Gaming Group has appointed Paul Godfrey, founder and chairman of Postmedia Network Canada Corp., to its board of directors.
Bragg owns ORYX gaming, an online gambling platform and managed services provider. The company is traded on the TSX Venture Exchange with a market capitalization of $179 million.
In November, the federal government in Canada introduced legislation to decriminalize betting on a single sport event, such as a hockey match or basketball game. Under current laws, bettors in Canada must wager on multiple sports events.
Bragg said in a press release that Godfrey, former chair of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., would help guide the company’s strategy in the evolving market for single-event sports betting.
“Paul’s extensive experience in the media, gaming and sports worlds will be invaluable as we move forward with our rapid growth plans,” Adam Arviv, Bragg’s CEO, said in the release.
