MINING.COM reaches one million monthly readers

Readers from all over the world flocked to MINING.COM for breaking news and opinions as the transformation of the industry gained pace and became more visible to the world, as the markets for electric vehicles and green energy reached a tipping point. 

MINING.COM recorded 1,247,693 visitors in January this year – over 440,000 or 60%  more than the same month in 2019 and a 160% jump compared to two years ago. The number of articles read during the month also topped two million for the first time and the number of visits climbed to more than 1.7 million.

Over the past 12 months user numbers from the US, Canada, the UK and South Africa were up more than 50% while readership in Australia grew 140% and visitors from the region topped one million over the past 12 months. Visits from Perth also surpassed Vancouver and Toronto over the past year and Sydney and Melbourne are now alongside London and New York in the top ten cities on MINING.COM.

In Europe, France showed the most growth, with a 138% jump in readership, surpassing Germany for the first time, with visitors from the two countries exceeding 200,000 over  the past year.

Our audience in India also doubled last year, surpassing 800,000, while Asia Pacific is booming – both Singapore and the Philippines now rank among the top 10 countries from where MINING.COM is visited.

At the beginning of March we launched an EV Metals Index to track the value of battery metals – lithium, cobalt, nickel and graphite – in electric vehicles sold around the world with data going back to the beginning of 2017 (and more than a decade for lithium). 

The MINING.COM TOP 50 Biggest Mining Companies ranking was updated last year, as was  our Markets and metal charts and in June we launched the MINING.COM Minute, a roundup  of the week’s most important news.
