Shares of silver miners dominated the NYSE’s biggest gainers list in morning trading Monday, as the trading frenzy that sent heavily shorted stocks like GameStop Corp. GME, -14.77% and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. AMC, +10.94% rocketing last week appears to engulfed the silver metal. Silver futures SI00, +7.38% shot up 12% in morning trading toward an 8-year high, putting them on track for the biggest one-day gain since March 2009. Gatos Silver Inc.’s stock GATO, +24.38% charged up 41.9% to lead all NYSE gainers, while Hecla Mining Co. shares HL, +22.50% were second on the list with a 36.6% surge, Endeavour Silver Corp. shares EXK, +14.76% were third with a 26.7% gain and Coeur Mining Inc.’s stock CDE, +17.68% was fourth with a 26.6% rally. Also on the, shares of First Majestic Silver Corp. AG, +18.54% climbed 23.4% and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. FSM, +13.05% gained 18.0%. The rally in the stocks comes as the S&P 500 SPX, +1.18% is up 0.5%.
