Intel Corp. INTC, -0.20% disclosed Friday that it invested in Coinbase Global Inc.’s stock COIN, +1.89% during the second quarter, soon after the cryptocurrency trading platform went public. In a 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Intel said it owned 3,014 shares of Coinbase as of June 30, valued at the time at about $763,000; Coinbase went public on April 14. Coinbase’s stock closed on June 30 at $253.30, or 22.8% below where it closed ($328.28) on its first day of trading. Over the same time, bitcoin BTCUSD, +4.21% had lost 44.0% while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.11% gained 4.2%. Intel also disclosed that it maintained its investments in MaxLinear Inc. MXL, -1.64% at 139,780 shares, in McAfee Corp. MCFE, -4.93% at 5,696,831 shares and in Shift4 Payments Inc. FOUR, -1.82% at 27,761 shares.
