U.S. Stocks Are Set to Open Mixed on Monday

Here’s what you need to know to navigate the markets today.

• U.S. stocks are set to open Monday mixed. On Sunday night, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures had gained 94 points, or 0.27%, while the S&P 500 futures gained 0.15% and Nasdaq Composite futures fell 0.03%. This week’s earnings include: IHS Markit and Micron Technology on Tuesday; Cintas on Wednesday; and CarMax , Jefferies Financial Group , McCormick, and Paychex on Thursday. Notable economic events this week include: On Monday, the Census Bureau releases its durable goods report for August. On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen delivers the keynote address at the 63rd National Association for Business Economics annual meeting. Also Tuesday, the Conference Board releases its Consumer Confidence Index for September, and CoreLogic releases the Case-Shiller National Home Price Index for July. On Wednesday, the National Association of Realtors releases its Pending Home Sales Index for August. On Thursday, the Institute for Supply Management releases its Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index for September. And on Friday, the Census Bureau reports construction spending data for August on Friday.
