U.S. Stock Futures Poised for Mixed Open on Monday

Here’s what you need to know to navigate the markets today.

 U.S. stocks are set to open Monday mixed. On Sunday night, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures lost 156 points, or 0.4%, while the S&P 500 futures lost 0.3% and Nasdaq Composite futures gained 0.1%. This week’s earnings include: Nike and Micron Technology on Monday; BlackBerry , FactSet Research Systems , General Mills , and Rite AId on Tuesday; and CarMax , Cintas and Paychex on Wednesday.

This week’s notable economic events include: On Monday, the Conference Board publishes its Leading Economic Index for November. On Wednesday, the Conference Board releases its Consumer Confidence Index for December, and the National Association of Realtors reports existing-home sales for November. On Thursday, the Department of Labor reports initial jobless claims for the week ending on Dec. 18, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports personal income and consumption expenditures for November, the Census Bureau releases the durable goods report for November, and the Census Bureau reports new-home sales for November. On Friday, stock and bond markets in the U.S. and around the world will be closed in observance of Christmas.
