U.S. Stock Futures Poised for Lower Open on Monday

• U.S. stocks are set to open Monday slightly down. On Sunday night, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures lost 60 points, or 0.2%, while the S&P 500 futures lost 0.2% and Nasdaq Composite futures lost 0.1%. This week’s earnings include: L3Harris Technologies, NXP Semiconductors, Otis Worldwide and Trane Technologies on Monday; Advanced Micro Devices, Google’s Alphabet, Exxon Mobil, General Motors, PayPal Holdings, PulteGroup, and Starbucks on Tuesday; Marathon Petroleum, Meta Platforms (the parent of Facebook), Qualcomm, Sony Group, T-Mobile US, and Waste Management on Wednesday; Activision Blizzard, Amazon.com, ConocoPhillips, Eli Lilly, Estée Lauder, Ford Motor, Honeywell International, and Merck on Thursday; and Bristol Myers Squibb on Friday.
This week’s notable economic events include: On Tuesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for December, and the Institute for Supply Management will release the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index for January. On Wednesday, ADP reports its National Employment Report for January. On Thursday, the Institute for Supply Management will release the Services Purchasing Managers’ Index for January, and the European Central Bank will release its next monetary-policy decision. On Friday, the Labor Department will report nonfarm payrolls and the unemployment rate for January.
