Pfizer Inc. PFE, -1.71% and BioNTech SE BNTX, -5.54% announced Wednesday a second agreement with the U.S. government to supply an additional 100 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine for $1.95 billion. That brings the total doses for the U.S. to 200 million. Under the second agreement’s terms, at least 70 million of the additional doses will be delivered by June 30, 2021, and the rest to be delivered no later than July 31. The Associated Press had reported late Tuesday that the companies were close to a second deal with the U.S. government. Pfizer and BioNTech said the U.S. government has an option to buy up to an additional 400 million doses of the vaccine. Shares of Pfizer are up 0.7% while BioNTech’s stock is down 3.5% in premarket trading, while futures ES00, +0.18% for the S&P 500 SPX, -0.21% are up 0.2%.
