That distinction likely belongs to George Joseph, the founder, chairman, and controlling shareholder of Mercury General (ticker: MCY), a California auto insurer with a market value of $3 billion. Joseph turns 100 on Sept. 11 and remains active in running the company along with CEO Gabe Tirador.
